Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is recommended since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
