Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
