Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
