Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped with a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
