Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
