Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
