Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
