Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a paint primer, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
