Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
