Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
