Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
