Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
