Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw can be preferred as the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
