Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred since the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
