Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
