Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
