Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
