Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
