Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
