Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
