Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred as cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
