Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
