Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
