Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
