Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
