Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes with a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
