Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
