Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
