Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
