Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
