Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
