Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
