Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
