Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
