Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
