Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
