Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
