Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes with a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
