Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be recommended as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
