Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
