Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
