Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred since the cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
