Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
