Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
