Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
