Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be recommended since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
