Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
