Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw can be recommended as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
