Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
