Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
